Joe De Sena
Joseph De Sena and wife Daria live in Fort Salonga with their puppy Brooklyn. Joe ran his first marathon, the 1983 New York City Marathon, when he was 25 years old. In 2005, Joe became a founding board member of the Michael Magro Foundation and decided to race again; this time for a cause close to his heart. As a part of Team in Training, Joe ran for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society, completing the Chicago marathon in 5 hours 41 minutes. In 2006, he ran the Dublin Marathon in 4 hours 21 minutes, making his best time ever. In 2007, he ran the Philadelphia Marathon, and on pace to break 4 hours, injured his back with 3 herniated disks at the 17 mile mark of the race. Forced to walk the last 9 miles, Joe completed the marathon in 5 hours 20 minutes, and raised $20,000 for the Foundation. Now he’s back… at age 53, Joe is determined to run his best time ever at the Philadelphia Marathon and to raise $50,000 for the Michael Magro Foundation.
