Good Morning Sunshine!

Ran 8 miles under the stars this early morning. Did a hill run in 81 minutes. I guess all this training is paying off. When I started training 5 months ago I would feel winded at 3 miles at a 10 minute pace. Now, I can run 18 miles at the same pace.

Remember Steve Jobs today. Think about all the technology we use everyday that he invented. He was the Thomas Edison of our time.

Have a great Thursday.

This weekend I competed in my first 10k race and also ran a 5k the next day. The first race was the Cow Harbor 10k Run in Northport on Saturday. I felt a competitive spirit from the start which helped me run my fastest 10k time at 58 mins and 55 seconds. The atmosphere and the support throughout the town was incredible. At every turn a family was outside there house offering water to all the runners. The first part of the race was the hardest as it was all uphill but the finish was down hill.

The second race was the 21st annual Susan G. Komen Greater New York City Race for the Cure 5k run. The amount of people participating was overwhelming and made it hard to run a fast time as it was crowded. The run through Central Park was beautiful and the weather was great. This run for me was more about reflecting upon the memories of my mother who battled with breast cancer for six years until 2008. I have participated in this run now for the past 3 years and I still am amazed of how people know of a woman close to them who has had breast cancer. Hopefully someday we will find a cure.

Overall this was a great weekend for me. It got me in the competitive mindframe and will help keep me going through training.

Good afternoon.

Daria and I arrived in Portugal yesterday. The trainer at the gym told me to try the circuit run which is 8 KM about 5.25 miles.

The run was extremely hilly. My up hill mile splits were 11 plus minutes and the down hills were 8 plus minutes. I felt like a mountain goat when I hit the top of the range of hills. The view was magnificent

My overall time was 54 minutes. Now it is time to go to dinner. Tonight Daria and I plan to have Tapas.

All the best,

Joe

On Thursday night we had a great dinner at an Indian Restaurant. All the old favorites: Tandori Chicken, Lamb, Basmati Rice, Etc.

That meal gave me turbo fuel. Friday I ran a half marathon around the Thames River in 2 hours, 9 minutes and 38 seconds. All miles ran were slightly less than 10 minutes.

On Saturday, I did one hour on the elliptical. Sunday was a rest day.

Training is right on track.

All the best,
 Joe
