Good morning.

My official time was 4:36. I must be getting old. My first half was 2:02. The second half was another story. My knees gave out at 20 miles. The last 6 miles was a grind and you know I love the grind. There is nothing better than to test how much you can push yourself even though you believe you do not have anymore to give. The body and mind surprises us and kicks in. Running to the finish line with all of the spectators cheering you on is an amazing experience. All of the pain just goes away.

The marathon was certainly worth the effort. I'm two marathons away from breaking four hours. I also need to do more long distance and speed work on the track.

I received this note from a colleague of mine just before the marathon:

"In running it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack or last. You can say I finished. There is a lot of satisfaction in that and the miracle isn't that you finished, the miracle is that you had the courage to start. "

Thank you to everyone who supported Robert and I, and the Michael Magro Foundation through our training efforts the past few months! I will check back in with our final fundraising total next week.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Joe

Good morning

Today ran 3 miles in 27:06

Saturday ran 8 miles in 71:15 minutes

I have two more short training runs to go.

On Marathon day I would love to run 26 nine minute miles in a row. That would be possible if the weather and my body cooperate. Mentally I believe I can do it!

Have a great day!

Joe

Good morning!

Robert and I have18 more days to the marathon. This marathon isn't for us. It is for chronically ill children and their families. If you haven't donated yet please make a contribution. Please send a check payable to the Michael Magro Foundation to my office. If you have contributed. Thank you. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Today, I ran my best 5 mile training run of the season. My time was 44:52. I haven't run a sub 9 Minute 5 miler in years. My last mile was 8:20.

Yesterday, I visited a fellow Ameriprise Advisor who just ran a 3:15 marathon. That is an outstanding time. We spoke about the difficulty of the long race. We both agreed that completing the marathon was both physical and mental. You have to keep a positive frame of mind so that you can break through barriers.

I guess running a marathon is just like life. You think?

Have a great day.
